New Medias in art.
I have decided to move one from pencils and invest in some new materials. With the help of a friend I have ordered an eye=shadow palette. This may sound strange but it will all come together soon enough. I chose the "Manly Pro 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette." It had 120 colours in both matte and shimmer shades. No I do not wear make for anyone wondering. Today I also purchased a small canvas and a cheap black eyeliner pencil. Here is a photo of the palette below. What I plan to do is use only make-up and a canvas to do a piece. I am tied up between two pictures; one containing Mario, Luigi, Yoshi and Wario, or one of only Mario. I'd appreciate opinions. I can not start until my order arrives in Australia. :(

WOAH MAN!
So in the past i have designed a family friends garden for them, and to initial success a heat wave decided to come along and massacre some of the plants including a $160 Bangalow Palm. Well i went to my Aunties for Christmas Eve dinner. She and my uncle once had a magnificent garden, in fact people used to get married in it. Well since the drought it has become baron and brown. My uncle said to me that he wants to redo much of it with drought tolerant plants; however he has little knowledge of such plants. He implied he wanted me to design a new garden, both front and back. I don’t think it will be difficult but there a few areas needing some love. I asked for some sort of figure as to how much he would want to spend. He didn’t give an exact amount however he did say this. "Well if you spent, 10 grand on a garden, it’d probably put more than 10 grand of value on the house." So I’m not sure if he is giving me a budget of $10,000. But if so that would be rather AMAZING! I might post my designs when I get around to it.

Air Plants
The pictures below are of two different types of plants. They belong to the Bromeliad family and the Tiilandsia species. The bottom picture is of "Tillandsia Bulbosa" the other i am unaware of the genus. ANYWHO thanks to Lycie Culbert who took the photos with her incredible camera! Okay so this is an art blog not a gardening one, but i thought considering i created somehting is it not art? So what i did was use a log from a eucalyptus tree, silicon(specific type needed) a drill and a few Tillandsias. So its kind of self eplanitary now how i assembled it. But i always used countersinkign drill bits for a wdier shallow hole so less adhesive is needed. Regular silcicon is a VERY bad idea and should be avoided.
I have made one for myself, one for some family friends (to which payed $30 for it) and i am currently making another one. I hope that the demand increases as they make excellent table pieces.

New thoughts...
I have not blogged in a while because I would rather put only pictures as the content is so much more interesting. I have two ideas for new pieces. One is a inspired by the almighty Brady Bunch. My thought was A3 black card with 9 small pieces of white paper, me in the middle with 8 friends surrounding me, but i cant choose among 9 of them and i feel bad leaving anyone out! However two of them are Andy and Garick who i have already drawn, so perhaps i will put them in the same picture. This piece will require me to take pictures of them or for them to do it themselves looking in a specified direction ( towards the middle). But before this rather major "assignment" I will draw someone for a friends Christmas present however i wont digress any information because I wouldnt want to ruin the surprise! Cant belive i have almost 140 hits!!!

This is a piece I did for my only follower, which is strange because i thought i had at least 50,000. Anywho his name is Brenz Lorenz Majenz Alcaraz Anjelah Jonson.
Tips for using graphite:
As per usual the eyes are important. I did an outline with 6H lead but of course you can trace the outline. I used mainly 2B because its not too hard or soft.
I might do a step by step tutorial of how to draw faces but I dont know whether to do it as a video or in pictures.
This is a charcoal picture I did of god (Mariah)
It looks better in person because you cqan see the shading and the angle the picture was taken on wasnt parallel to the paper.
A few tips for using charcoal:
Start the picture with a light outline of the main lines of the image. Trace if necessary. Preferable lighter than a H pencil. I used 6H which are rare so you might need to go to a specialist art store to get one but they do come in graphite sets. Always put emphasis on the eyes, because they are the most definitive part of a persons face. Darker eyes are better to draw with charcoal for obvious reasons. Charcoal is not preferable for lighter skin tones because there is less to fill in. Errors are not easy to erase but you can but special types or erasers-similar to BluTac-that can sweep away feint lines. Try to start from the left side if you are right handed, to minimize smudging. Fixative can be used once you are finished to prevent further smudging. Hairspray can be a cheap alternative but either way be sure not to wet the paper too much.
